Rice plantation Festival

Nepal is an agricultural country that primarily cultivates rice, paddy, and maize, with rice being the main crop grown nationwide. Rice planting occurs throughout Nepal, including in Pokhara, during the monsoon season in June and July. The planting begins in the first week of Asar, the third month of the Nepali calendar, and continues until the last week of the month. Asar 15 is a significant day dedicated to celebrating rice cultivation, known as Dahi Cheura Khane Din. On this day, people plant rice in their fields, play in the mud, sing traditional songs, and enjoy dahi (curd) and cheura (flattened rice).
